# Background:

- So  I was thinking about a 2014 movie called Transcendence in which they upload the main character inside a computer.

The question is "Would it still be you if I upload you inside a computer"?

# What makes you you?

* Externally (Observers POV):

- The way you judge things.

- The specific way you would react if put in certain situation (Character).

- information contained inside your brain : your memories and way you think.

* Internally:

- The arrangement of atoms in specific pattern forming you.

- But most of the atoms that made up your body two years ago are replaced by new ones. so the atoms that are not you can be you.

# Uploading to computer:

- Lets imagine you upload a chimpanzee inside a human brain. It may behave like a chimpanzee for some time.. But it has far more ability to precive and learn things than a chimpanzee . And as it learn new things, I guess it would realize how stupid its old way of thinking is and gradually replace them with new way of thinking. It may have memories of chimpanzee way of thinking, but it would have learned alot since the upload and I guess it would be no different from human..

- Again lets imagine uploading one chimpanzee inside the brain of another chimpanzee. Observing from outside I guess it would still be a chimpanzee.

So, I think it would still be you (observing externally) if the processing power of computer is same as  the processing power of your brain and it would be completely different creature if processing power of computer is different from that of your brain. But I guess we can still compare the emergent behaviour of mind inside computer as the growth of a child (It remembers previous self but is completely different self but is still the same person).

(Ignoring parallel processing our brain offers and structure of the brain that lead to specific way of thinking because a Turing-complete processor should be able to process any computable process.)
